Cumulants of the three state Potts model and of nonequilibrium models with C 3v symmetry Abstract The critical behavior of two-dimensional stochastic lattice gas models with C 3v symmetry is analyzed. We study the cumulants of the order parameter for the three state (equilibrium) Potts model and for two irreversible models whose dynamic rules are invariant under the symmetry operations of the point group C 3v. By means of extensive numerical analysis of the phase transition we show that irreversibility does not affect the critical behavior of the systems. In particular we find that the Binder reduced fourth order cumulant takes a universal value U * which is the same for the three state Potts model and for the irreversible models. The same universal behavior is observed for the reduced third-order cumulant.

متن کاملEntropy production in the majority-vote model.
We analyzed the entropy production in the majority-vote model by using a mean-field approximation and Monte Carlo simulations. The dynamical rules of the model do not obey detailed balance so that entropy is continuously being produced. This nonequilibrium stochastic model is known to have a critical behavior belonging to the universality class of the equilibrium Ising model. We show that the e...
متن کاملRenormalization group of the Domany - Kinzel cellular automaton Tânia Tomé
We apply the dinamically driven renormalization group to study the critical properties of the Domany-Kinzel probabilistic cellular automaton. To preserve the absorbing state clusters with at least one site occupied are renormalized into a one occupied site and clusters with all sites empty are renormalized into a one empty site. We have obtained the phase diagram as well as the critical exponen...
متن کاملStationary distribution of finite-size systems with absorbing states.
We introduce a procedure that allows us to obtain nontrivial stationary distributions of finite-size models with absorbing states. Two models are studied: the contact process and the sandpile model with height restriction. To avoid the permanence of the system in the absorbing state we create a small perturbation that drives the system out of the absorbing state. In the former model a particle ...
متن کاملEntropy Production in Nonequilibrium Systems Described by a Fokker-Planck Equation
We study the entropy production in nonequilibrium systems described by a Fokker-Planck equation. We have devised an expression for the entropy flux in the stationary state. We have found that the entropy flux can be written as an ensemble average of an expression containing the force and its derivative. This result is similar to the one used by Lebowitz and Spohn for system following a Markovia...
متن کاملCrystal vs Glass Formation in Lattice Models with Many Coexisting Ordered Phases
We present here new evidence that after a quench the planar Potts model on the square lattice relaxes towards a glassy state if the number of states q is larger than four. By extrapolating the finite size data we compute the average energy of these states for the infinite system with periodic boundary conditions, and find that it is comparable with that previously found using fixed boundary con...
